Description
According to mythology, King Erechtheus lived at the exact same point as the sacred temple is currently located. It was built between 421 and 406 BC and, according to legends, it was the place, Gods Athena and Poseidon quarrelled about who would be the ruler of the city. Athena eventually won and the city was named after her. Owing to its complex architectural design and its unique decoration, the temple, is regarded as one of the world’s most famous monuments.
